poploser: A screenwriter wonders how the hell he’s going to come up with an original plot for a new episode of Law & Order: SVU. But wait, if I go with the bullying story, I’ve got to find a way to make it sexual somehow so the Special Victims Unit would get the case. I hate this. I have to take every vague idea I have and turn it into some terrible sex crime. It’s like that episode where...

arod: Once you’re two deep, grab a refill and turn on the television. Watch Law and Order: SVU. Get indignant if it’s an episode where Stabler and Benson are ‘taking a break.’ “Who is this bitch, even. Who is she, making out with Stabler when he’s separated from Kathy. GTFO. Oh Benson, you work in computer crimes now? Since when? You don’t know shit about computers. Give me a goddamn break...

strengthinwhatremains asked: I've watched all of the SVU seasons multiple times, and the thing that bothers me the most is O'Halloran. He's so kickass as dedicated to his work, but he never gets any credit. Not to mention the fact that he lasts several seasons, probably the most out of any of the non-main characters. Then, out of nowhere, he gets murdered by Stuckey, who only lasted for like 3 shows but gets...

sfbirdie: penelopepeony: Why do the criminals and the victims always meet in the office on L&O?! Seriously, this does not happen in real life. It is never wise to question anything about L&O. It happens there because IT CAN. “Suspension of disbelief” applies to a 17-year-old girl with no criminal ties obtaining a fully-loaded semi-automatic pistol, walking into a police...

This is why I don’t post recaps. I love the show overall, and fondly remember the halcyon days of Olivia’s short hair, Un-Stabler, ADAs Cabot and Novak, episodes where Munch had at least 2 lines (if any), and monkey-in-the-basketball. But this show is now a parody of itself.  The Neal Baer / Speed Weed era is over soon! Rejoice, rejoice!

Shall we discuss? 1. In last weeks episode, Stone was totes overacting. Sharon baby, this ain’t Casino. Plus, am I really supposed to feel sexual tension between her & Stabler? I feel kind of insulted that I’m supposed to believe that every new woman on SVU wants Stabler. (Yes, I want him, but…

** SPOILER ALERT!** Refers to tonight’s NBC episode introducing Sharon Stone. Now you know you need to watch! The Law and Order franchise, known for its “ripped from the headlines” plots, last night borrowed from perhaps one of the most heartbreaking, most disturbing stories I have ever heard. At the end of the episode I was half expecting there to be something more, some indication to...

On Television Ownership and Pretension
spiers: Following this rather extensive discussion re: Moby’s snobbery or lack thereof, I feel obligated to disclose that I do not own a television, since that seems to be the defining characteristic of The New Pretentiousness.  This is not, however, because I do not want a television.  It’s mostly because my productivity has already been significantly diminished by 30 Rock and various reality...

Has Chris Meloni Got an SVU Plot for Conan O’Brien — Vulture Last night, at a State of the Union dinner hosted by The Atlantic and Celerie Kemble and Boykin Curry at Le Cirque, we ran into Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’s always charming Chris Meloni and asked him whether the show could give Conan O’Brien some work. “I’d love to get him on an episode,” he told us. As...

3 Universal Truths Of Law And Order | Best Week... →
interweber: So essentially, Truth #1: If a recognizable actor or actress is in the episode, they did it. Truth #2: If they arrest or try a suspect with too much time left in the episode, that person obviously didn’t do it. Universal Truth #3: The last couple seasons of SVU have been effing crazy. Spot on.
